teen therapy in seattle

Your teen seems different lately. Maybe they're more withdrawn, more irritable, or stressed in a way that doesn't seem to let up. School feels like too much. Friendships are complicated. They're figuring out who they are, and it's hard to tell what's a normal part of growing up and what's something more.

You might be worried, or unsure how to help. Maybe you've tried to talk with them and it hasn't gone the way you hoped. That's okay. Reaching out for support is a caring and brave step, for you and for them.

If you're a teen reading this: you don't have to have it all figured out to start therapy. A therapist is someone in your corner, who listens without judging and helps you sort through what's going on.

Teens often come to us for:

In teen therapy, we will:

  • build a trusting relationship where your teen feels heard and respected

  • understand what's driving the stress, anxiety or low mood

  • practice skills for handling big emotions, stress and hard thoughts

  • strengthen confidence and a sense of who they are

  • involve parents and caregivers in ways that support your teen's progress

How do parents fit in?

Parents and caregivers are an important part of a teen's support. At the start, your teen's therapist will explain how therapy works, including what stays private between your teen and their therapist and how you'll stay informed. Each family is different, and the therapist will talk with you about the level of involvement that fits your teen.
