depression is lying to you
Depression tells you that it’s going to last forever, and that things will never get better. It is such a painful experience. I have had depression most of my life, and been in those depths. But, what I know both personally and from my work with clients, is that depression is temporary and can and does get better.
If you don’t believe that right now, that’s okay. I’ll hold that belief for you.
It takes work for depression to shift. I know that is hard to hear, because motivation and the idea of work right now sounds like I’m asking you to walk a marathon through molasses. But you can do this. I’ve gathered together a few tools that can be helpful:
a list of signals that depression is present
a list of coping skills that are helpful for many poeple
an example and a worksheet of the Depression Spiral, and how to catch depression early
a safety plan template for moments of crisis
I hope these tools are helpful to you along your journey. And as always, a disclaimer that these are not meant as therapy, and are not a substitute for therapy. If you want therapy, and are in Seattle WA, or live in Washington state, click the link below the form to book a consultation with someone on our team!
You’re not alone, and I’m holding tons of hope for you.
