Amanda Kieser, LMHC, NCC (she/her)

Beginning therapy can be daunting and scary, and it can also be the start of finding relief and making meaning in your life. My hope for you is that through our work together you will reflect, grow, and evolve to build a life you no longer want to avoid or escape from. Therapy is a place to explore your thoughts and feelings in a deeper way, while also giving space to let go of beliefs or messages that no longer serve you.

I work with adults of any gender expression who are seeking change or relief from depression, anxiety, emotional dysregulation, and stress. I also specialize in helping clients with eating disorders and body image issues. I might be a good fit for you if you’re wanting more coping skills for your mental health symptoms, want to improve relationships with your family and friends, are looking to improve your relationship with your body, weight, or food, or are hoping to overcome people-pleasing tendencies.

My approach to therapy

Every brain is different, so I always strive to find concepts and therapy interventions that make the most sense to you. My therapeutic approach utilizes Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), IFS (Parts Work), and person-centered care. For work around food, body, or weight, I include the frames of Fat Liberation, Health At Every Size, body respect, and the All Foods Fit model. Otherwise, I like to show up to therapy with humor, curiosity, warmth, and non-judgement.
